Qi stagnation:What Are The Symptom With Liver Qi Stagnation?

anger

What is Qi stagnation?

Qi stagnation is the block of liver qi; how does it cause? In modern society, most people’s physical diseases are caused by emotions.

In addition to the wind, cold, heat, dampness, dryness, fire, or diseases caused by bruises (caused by accidents), most common internal injuries are closely related to emotional disorders.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the body is a system, one state will be involved in another and finally form a complex constitution.

Presently, stress is common in life, and anxiety begins to occur after a long time. Worrying, anxious, restless… It seems like a fire is burning in the heart, and it seems to be blocked by something. Traditional Chinese medicine calls such emotions “the block of liver qi”.

Everyone has seven emotions and six desires. What are the seven emotions? Joy, anger, worry, thinking, sadness, fear, shock. What are the six desires?

Generally speaking, the six senses are concepts borrowed from Buddhism: eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind. What’s the meaning?

When we want something but don’t get it, it is very painful, and our emotions and desires will become abnormal, resulting in liver qi block (also called liver qi stasis stagnation) is-qi stagnation in the body.

Once the seven emotions are abnormal, the body will appear in two situations: anger and rage.

Depressed anger is different from rage. Angry people are full of anger, but as long as they can erupt, it can reduce the degree of internal injury to the body. Frustrated anger is the fire that does not come out and causes more harm to the body than rage, which is more irreversible. So what are the symptom of liver qi block?

What are the symptom with liver qi stagnation?

The typical symptom of liver qi block is anger, which is one of the manifestations of people with liver qi block. There are many other diagnostic indicators in traditional Chinese medicine:

  •  Bitter and dry mouth and dry throat;
  •  Dizziness;
  •  Poor appetite, do not want to eat;
  •  Feeling cold for a while, and hot again for a while;
  •  Nausea, including acid reflux, sometimes vomiting, nausea: sometimes upturned gas, which is a feeling of nausea;
  •  Chest tightness, palpitations, abnormal heartbeat;
  •  There is swelling and pain in the ribs;
  •  Insomnia and dreams.

The above are mentioned by Zhang Zhongjing in “Treatise on Febrile Diseases and Miscellaneous Diseases”. The symptoms summarized by Zhang Zhongjing are roughly sore mouth, dry throat, dizziness, upset and vomiting, chest and flank fullness or pain. He said about so many items, And said, “But seeing a symptom is that,”

That is to say, if you have one of these symptoms, it is Shaoyang syndrome. However, our judgment on liver qi block is not so absolute.

2) Chest tightness, rib pain, palpitations and other problems may be caused by liver qi discomfort.

Some studies show that men’s heart disease often has obvious symptoms before the onset, such as chest pain. However, most women with heart disease have no obvious symptoms.

In modern medicine, women’s heart disease is characterized by chest tightness, upset, vomiting, etc., which are exactly the same as the symptoms of liver qi block in traditional Chinese medicine.

Many people often feel chest tightness, palpitations, and rib pain, and think something is wrong with their heart, so they go to the hospital for a diagnosis. Why do men with heart disease say that the heart is stuffy and painful before the onset of the disease, while women do not have these symptoms or are not obvious, but the symptoms of liver qi block are so obvious?

In fact, because women may more emotional, there are many cases of liver qi block, while the changes in men’s emotions are relatively small.

Disturbed liver qi will indeed affect the heart’s function, because the liver belongs to wood, the heart belongs to fire, and wood creates fire, so people with strong anger will become increasingly angry and problems will arise.

Therefore, many people go to the hospital for examination due to heart palpitations, chest tightness, and abnormal heartbeat.

Emotions and the heart are directly related. Now Modern medicine also believes that there are two important causes of heart disease:

  • one is bad mood;
  • other is blood vessel blockage caused by high blood lipids.

If the liver is disturbed, the spleen and stomach must be bad

In addition to heart problems, many spleen and stomach problems are also caused by bad mood.

Because the liver (wood) controls the spleen (earth), if your liver qi is disturbed, it will directly lead to the spleen and stomach dysfunction, and serious reflux esophagus, esophagitis, reflux gastritis, etc. will occur.

Sometimes, you don’t feel that your stomach is pumping up acid water, you just feel that your stomach has a fever, a burning feeling, and you feel uncomfortable. In fact, it is stomach acid that is corroding your esophagus. Many chronic pharyngitis now are related to this. When sleeping at night, stomach acid increases and soaks the throat, leading to chronic pharyngitis. Liver qi is disturbed, which can damage the lungs and cause serious problems.

In fact, it is the lung system that is most affected by liver qi block. Chinese medicine believes that the lungs belong to metal, and that the liver belongs to wood, and metal overcomes wood. Originally, the lungs (metal) govern the liver (wood), but if the liver and wood turn into fire, it will “reverse the lungs and metal,” which means that excessive anger will in turn bully the lungs (metal) and cause respiratory system problems, this is called “wood burning gold”.

You must know that the diseases of the pulmonary system are neither minor nor mild, but are often more serious, and everyone must pay special attention.

People with lung problems easily wake up at four or five in the morning and remember that liver qi directly affects the lungs.

Therefore, if you see your tongue is pointed, you must beware of lung problems. There will be signs of a lung problem, such as coughing, wheezing when walking, sweating, etc. For people with lung problems, an obvious sign is that they are easy to wake up at four or five in the morning.

At this moment, the lung meridian is in season; that is to say, the lung meridian is working from three to five o’clock in the morning. Therefore, people always awake during this period should pay attention to whether the liver qi is blocked.
